Why Shopify suits most Omani brands
Shopify runs the catalogue, checkout, hosting and security for you, so the budget goes into design and marketing rather than infrastructure. Your team manages products and orders from a phone. When the store outgrows a theme, the same Shopify back office can power a headless storefront, so nothing is thrown away. If you are still deciding on a platform, start with ecommerce website development in Oman.
What is different about Shopify in Oman
- Shopify's own payment service is not available to businesses based in Oman, so card payments run through a third-party gateway. We pick one that accepts Omani debit cards and international cards and settles to your Omani bank account.
- Cash on delivery is set up as a manual payment method, with order confirmation on WhatsApp to cut failed deliveries.
- Store currency is set to OMR with three-decimal prices, and taxes are configured for 5% VAT.
- Arabic needs more than a translation app: the theme must mirror properly right-to-left, and product content, emails and checkout need Arabic versions.
- Shipping rates are set by governorate or wilayat, with courier apps or APIs for tracking.
Payment gateways that work with Shopify in Oman
Oman is not on Shopify's list of countries supported by Shopify Payments, so an Omani store takes cards through a third-party gateway. These are the options we checked on each provider's own pages in October 2026.
- Amwal Pay is an Omani gateway with its own app in the Shopify App Store. The listing says it accepts local Omani cards and wallet payments on a Shopify store.
- Tap Payments has a Shopify app whose listing names Oman Net, Apple Pay, Visa and Mastercard among its payment methods.
- Thawani is licensed by the Central Bank of Oman and offers a hosted payment page and APIs. Ask Thawani how it connects to Shopify before you choose it.
- Cash on delivery is a manual payment method in Shopify. Shopify does not charge its third-party transaction fee on manual payments.
- Fees come in two parts. Shopify charges a fee on each sale paid through a third-party gateway (2% on the Basic plan and less on higher plans, per Shopify's pricing page, checked October 2026). The gateway charges its own fee per sale on top, so ask for its rate card before you apply.
What is included
- Store setup: plan selection, domains, taxes, shipping zones, notifications and staff accounts.
- Theme design: a custom-designed theme or a premium theme customised to your brand, tested on mobile.
- Arabic storefront with right-to-left layout and translated checkout and emails.
- Payments: Omani card gateway, international cards and cash on delivery.
- Apps: reviews, WhatsApp, search, bundles and loyalty, chosen carefully so the store stays fast.
- Product import, collections, filters and SEO for every product and collection page.
- Google Analytics 4, Meta pixel, Google Merchant Center and training for your team.
What the OMR 100 build covers and what costs extra
The starting price covers a branded theme, your products, a local card gateway, cash on delivery, delivery zones and Arabic, ready to take orders. A standard Shopify store stays at that price. You get a fixed price in OMR after a short call, before we start.
These add time and budget, and most can be added later, once the store is already selling:
- Extra payment providers. Each additional wallet or buy-now-pay-later provider is a separate setup.
- Complex catalogues: configurators, subscriptions, rentals and B2B price lists.
- Integrations with an ERP, POS or accounting system, especially older systems without a modern API.
- AI features such as product recommendations or a WhatsApp shopping assistant.
- A companion mobile app, priced as a separate project.
- Costs paid to others, not to us: the Shopify plan, paid apps and gateway fees.
Couriers and delivery
- Couriers that Omani stores commonly use include Asyad Express and Aramex. Many stores use two, because they cover different areas and speeds.
- We set delivery zones and fees by governorate or wilayat. Interior governorates such as Dhofar, Al Wusta and Musandam take longer and cost more than Muscat.
- Order confirmation and tracking go out on WhatsApp, which reduces refused cash-on-delivery orders.

( FAQ )
Common questions.
Does Shopify accept Omani debit cards?
Yes, through a third-party payment gateway that supports Omani cards. We set this up during the build and test real transactions before launch.
Which payment gateway should I use with Shopify in Oman?
One that accepts Omani debit cards and international cards and settles to your Omani bank account. Amwal Pay and Tap Payments both have apps in the Shopify App Store. Compare fees and settlement times in our guide to payment gateways in Oman.
How much does a Shopify store cost in Oman?
Building a Shopify store starts from OMR 100. After launch you pay the Shopify plan, about OMR 8–15 a month for the Basic plan, plus any paid apps. Shopify also charges a fee on each sale when you use a third-party gateway (2% on the Basic plan and less on higher plans, per Shopify's pricing page, checked October 2026), and the gateway charges its own fee per sale. You get a fixed price for the build before we start.
How long does it take to build a Shopify store?
One to two weeks for most stores, once your products, photos and payment gateway account are ready.
What do I need to open a Shopify store in Oman?
A commercial registration with an activity that covers online selling, a business bank account in the company's name, a payment gateway application, your products and photos, and delivery, returns and privacy policies. Gateway approval can run in parallel with the build.
Who owns the Shopify store?
You do. You own the code and the accounts: the Shopify account, the domain and the gateway account are opened in your company's name, and the theme stays with your store.
Can a Shopify store be fully in Arabic?
Yes. With a theme that supports right-to-left and Shopify's multi-language features, the storefront, checkout and emails can all run in Arabic.
Can you move our WooCommerce or Salla store to Shopify?
Yes. We migrate products, customers and, where possible, order history, and redirect old URLs to keep search rankings.
Do you manage the store after launch?
We offer a monthly care plan for updates, new pages, app changes and performance, while your team runs day-to-day orders.
What if we outgrow the Shopify theme?
The same Shopify back office can power a headless storefront, so products, customers and orders stay where they are. Our guide Shopify or a custom store explains when that step is worth it.
Can you build our Shopify store if we are not in Muscat?
Yes. A Shopify build needs no site visit: calls, WhatsApp and a preview link are enough. We take on brands from any governorate of Oman from our base in Muscat, and can visit when it helps.
