What an Omani online store needs
Most ecommerce templates are designed for the US and Europe. Selling in Oman needs a few things they do not do out of the box, and we build all of them in as standard.
- Local card payments. Omani debit cards run on the OmanNet network, so the store needs a gateway that accepts them, such as Thawani, Amwal Pay or a bank gateway, alongside international cards. Our guide to payment gateways in Oman compares them.
- Cash on delivery. Still a large share of orders in Oman. It needs its own flow: order confirmation, delivery fees, failed-delivery handling and reconciliation.
- Prices in rial and baisa. OMR uses three decimal places, so prices, discounts, taxes and refunds must round correctly.
- VAT at 5%. Prices shown inclusive or exclusive of VAT, tax lines on invoices and reports your accountant can use. The current rules are published by the Oman Tax Authority.
- Arabic storefront. Product names, filters, checkout and emails in Arabic, laid out right-to-left, not a translation plugin bolted on.
- Delivery across the governorates. Couriers such as Asyad Express and Aramex, delivery zones by wilayat, and tracking messages on WhatsApp.
Shopify, headless or custom
We recommend the simplest platform that fits the business. Most Omani brands start on Shopify, and our page on Shopify store development in Oman covers that route in detail. A smaller number need more.
| Criteria | Shopify store | Headless storefront | Custom platform |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Most retail brands | Brands where the experience sells | B2B, marketplaces, unusual catalogues |

What we build
- New online stores for retail, fashion, beauty, electronics, food and home brands.
- B2B ordering portals with customer-specific price lists and credit terms.
- Migrations from WooCommerce, Salla, Zid or an old custom store, with products, customers and URLs carried over.
- Integrations with POS, ERP, accounting and warehouse systems, so stock and orders stay in sync.
- WhatsApp order updates, abandoned-cart reminders and an AI shopping assistant in English and Arabic.
- A companion mobile app once repeat customers justify it.

A fixed price, and a store that belongs to you
Every ecommerce project gets a fixed price in OMR after the discovery call, before any work starts. A Shopify store starts from OMR 100, a headless storefront from OMR 2,450 and a custom platform from OMR 3,200.
You own the code and the accounts. The store platform account, the domain and the payment gateway account are opened in your company's name, and on headless and custom builds the source code is handed over to you. The full range of what we do is on our ecommerce development service page.
What to have ready before the build
- A commercial registration with an activity that covers online selling. Gateways and most couriers ask for it. Our guide to the ecommerce licence in Oman covers the paperwork.
- A business bank account in the company's name. Gateways settle to it.
- A payment gateway application. Approval needs your commercial registration, bank details and a live website with policies, and it can run while the store is being built.
- Products in English and Arabic: names, descriptions, sizes and photos, with prices in OMR.
- Delivery, returns, refund and privacy policies in both languages.
( FAQ )
Common questions.
Which payment gateways do you integrate in Oman?
Thawani, OmanNet bank gateways and Amwal Pay for local cards, international gateways for foreign cards, plus cash on delivery. We choose them with you based on fees, settlement times and your bank.
Does Shopify work in Oman?
Yes. Shopify stores run in Oman with a third-party payment gateway that supports Omani cards, plus cash on delivery. Shopify's own payment service is not offered for businesses based in Oman. See Shopify in Oman for the gateways and running costs.
How much does an ecommerce website cost in Oman?
A Shopify store starts from OMR 100 and launches in one to two weeks. For brands that need more, headless storefronts start from OMR 2,450 and fully custom platforms from OMR 3,200. You get a fixed price before work starts.
Which is the best ecommerce agency in Oman?
The best ecommerce agency for you is one that has launched stores with Omani payment gateways, cash on delivery and Arabic checkout, and that puts the store, domain and gateway accounts in your name. Ask to see live stores, ask which gateways they have connected, and ask who handles updates after launch. OGB Labs is an ecommerce agency and Shopify Partner in Muscat; our guide on how to start an online store in Oman covers what to check.
Do I need a commercial registration to sell online in Oman?
Yes. Payment gateways ask for a commercial registration with an activity that covers online selling before they activate a merchant account. Our guide on how to start an online store in Oman explains the steps.
Who owns the store and the accounts?
You do. The store account, domain and payment gateway account are in your company's name, and payments settle to your own bank account. On headless and custom builds you also own the source code.
Can the store be in Arabic?
Yes. Every store we build in Oman can run in English and Arabic with a right-to-left storefront, Arabic product content and Arabic customer emails.
Can you move our store from WooCommerce or Salla?
Yes. We migrate products, customers and order history where the platform allows it, and redirect old URLs so search rankings are kept.
What happens after launch?
Your team runs the daily orders, and we train them before launch. An optional monthly care plan covers updates and improvements, so small changes do not become new projects.
Do you build stores for companies outside Muscat?
Yes. We build online stores for brands across Oman, from Salalah to Sohar. Everything is delivered online, and we visit when a project needs it. The team itself is in Muscat.
