Web development, apps and software in the UAE
Updated
What is specific to building for the UAE
- Payments: PayTabs, Telr, Network International and Checkout.com are widely used gateways. Buy-now-pay-later through Tabby and Tamara is common in consumer ecommerce. Cash on delivery is still offered by most stores, and the Jaywan national card, issued nationwide from July 2026, must be accepted online. See payment gateways in the UAE.
- Audience: the UAE is multilingual. English-first sites are normal, with Arabic for consumer and government-facing brands and sometimes Hindi or Urdu content for specific audiences.
- Domains: .ae domains are registered through registrars accredited by the .ae Domain Administration at TDRA. A plain .ae is open to anyone, while .co.ae needs a UAE trade licence or trademark. See .ae domain registration.
- E-invoicing: B2B and B2G invoices move to Peppol e-invoicing through accredited service providers, from 1 January 2027 for businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more and 1 July 2027 for the rest, VAT-registered or not. See UAE e-invoicing.
- VAT: a UAE business must register once taxable sales and imports pass AED 375,000 in 12 months, while foreign stores and apps selling to UAE consumers must register from the first sale. Registered sellers must show VAT-inclusive prices. See UAE VAT registration for online sellers.
- Corporate tax: every UAE company, free zone included, registers with the FTA within three months of incorporation, while individuals register only once business turnover passes AED 1 million a year. Businesses with revenue up to AED 3 million can elect Small Business Relief, now extended to 2029. See UAE corporate tax registration for small businesses.
- Digital identity: private companies can add Sign in with UAE PASS, the national digital ID, to websites and apps after an approval process with a recorded assessment and a Service Provider Agreement. See UAE PASS integration for websites and apps.
- Delivery: same-day and next-day delivery expectations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with regional couriers that offer tracking APIs.
- Free zones and mainland companies have different licensing, which affects payment gateway onboarding. We plan for it during discovery.
- WhatsApp is a primary sales and support channel, so AI agents and order updates on WhatsApp pay off quickly.
What we build for UAE companies
- Websites on Next.js with a headless CMS, bilingual, fast and built for search and AI search.
- Mobile apps for iOS and Android with store submission and updates.
- Ecommerce on Shopify, headless or custom, with UAE gateways, BNPL and courier integrations.
- AI automation for enquiries, lead qualification and back-office work.
- Custom software: portals, dashboards and SaaS, plus our property, community and maintenance products, which suit Dubai's owners' associations and facilities companies.
How we work with clients in the UAE
Discovery happens in Dubai or online. During discovery we check whether the company is licensed in a free zone or on the mainland, because that decides how payment gateway onboarding runs, and whether the site should be English-first or Arabic-first for its audience. Projects are fixed-price after discovery and released weekly. Clients own the code, the .ae domain and the accounts. A monthly care plan covers monitoring, updates and improvements after launch.
