# Mobile app development company in Oman

> OGB Labs designs and develops mobile apps for iOS and Android for companies in Oman, from its team in Muscat. We build in React Native by default and in native Swift or Kotlin when the app needs it, with Arabic right-to-left screens, Omani rial prices and local card payments built in. The app is published under your own Apple and Google developer accounts, you own the code, and a first release usually takes 8 to 16 weeks.

- Platforms: iOS + Android
- Languages: English + Arabic

## What is specific to building an app for Oman

An app for Omani customers has a few requirements that a generic build misses. We plan for all of them from the first screen.

- Arabic and right-to-left. Screens, navigation, forms and notifications are designed in Arabic and English, and the user switches language inside the app.
- Omani rial to three decimals. One rial is 1,000 baisa, so prices, totals, refunds and receipts must round to three decimal places.
- Omani card payments. The Central Bank of Oman says local cards work in apps [that support local payment gateways](https://cbo.gov.om/nationalpaymentcard). We connect a local gateway such as [Thawani](https://thawani.om/), which is licensed by the Central Bank of Oman, or [Amwal Pay](https://amwalpay.om/). Our guide to [payment gateways in Oman](https://www.ogblabs.com/guides/payment-gateways-oman) compares them.
- Apple's payment rule. An app that sells physical goods or services used outside the app must take payment by card or Apple Pay, not by in-app purchase, under [Apple's App Review Guidelines](https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/). This is why a local gateway matters.
- 5% VAT. Oman's standard VAT rate is 5% ([Oman Tax Authority](https://tms.taxoman.gov.om/portal/tax-rate)), so orders, receipts and invoices in the app show the tax line.
- Store accounts in your company's name. Apple asks an organisation for a legal entity and a D-U-N-S Number ([Apple enrolment requirements](https://developer.apple.com/support/enrollment/)), and Google Play asks organisations for a D-U-N-S number too ([Google Play Console Help](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/13628312?hl=en)). We guide you through both, then publish under your accounts.
- WhatsApp alongside push notifications. WhatsApp is the default customer channel for most Omani businesses, so order updates and support links go there as well.

## Apps we build in Oman

- Customer apps for retail and ecommerce brands: catalogue, ordering, loyalty and order tracking, connected to the online store.
- Booking apps for clinics, salons, gyms and service companies.
- Delivery and field-team apps that use GPS, the camera and offline mode.
- Tenant, resident and technician apps. Our own products, such as [real estate management software](https://www.ogblabs.com/products/real-estate-management), ship with iOS and Android apps.
- First products for startups, from prototype to the stores.
- Replacements for an outdated app, with accounts and data carried over.
- The backend behind every app: accounts, payments, notifications, APIs and an admin panel for your team.

## React Native, native or progressive web app

Most business apps in Oman are a good fit for React Native: one codebase for both stores. Our guide to [React Native vs native apps](https://www.ogblabs.com/guides/react-native-vs-native) explains the choice in detail.

**Three ways to build a mobile app in Oman**

| | React Native | Native (Swift / Kotlin) | Progressive web app |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Codebases | One for iOS and Android | Two, one per platform | One, shared with the website |
| App Store and Google Play | Yes | Yes | No, installed from the browser |
| Device features | Camera, GPS, notifications, biometrics | Everything, including AR and heavy graphics | Limited, especially on iOS |
| Arabic and right-to-left | Designed in | Designed in | Designed in |
| Time to first release | 8–12 weeks typical | 12–16 weeks typical | 4–8 weeks typical |
| Best for | Most customer and field apps | Graphics-heavy or hardware-heavy apps | Content apps that do not need the stores |

## How an app project runs

A first release usually takes 8 to 16 weeks, including design, development, testing and store submission.

1. Discovery call: users, features, payments and integrations. You receive a fixed price in OMR and a timeline.
2. Product design: flows, screens and a clickable prototype in English and Arabic, approved before any code.
3. Build: the app, backend and admin panel, with a new version every week for you to try.
4. Testing: real devices, both languages and real payments through the gateway.
5. Store launch: listings, screenshots and review on the App Store and Google Play, under your accounts.
6. Care: updates, OS changes, monitoring and new features on a monthly care plan.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does it cost to build a mobile app in Oman?

We do not publish a price list for apps, because two apps are rarely alike. You get a fixed price in Omani rial after a short discovery call. The price depends on the number of screens and user roles, payments, offline use, integrations, the admin panel, and whether the app is built in React Native or native code. Our guide to [mobile app cost in Oman](https://www.ogblabs.com/guides/mobile-app-cost-oman) explains each factor.

### How long does it take to build an app?

A first release usually takes 8 to 16 weeks, including design, development, testing and store submission. React Native apps are typically at the shorter end.

### Which is the best mobile app development agency in Oman?

There is no single best app agency for every project. Shortlist agencies that can show apps live on the App Store and Google Play, publish under your own developer accounts, give a fixed price after discovery, and include an admin panel and support after launch. OGB Labs is a mobile app development agency in Muscat that works this way; our guide to [how long it takes to build a mobile app](https://www.ogblabs.com/guides/how-long-to-build-mobile-app) explains what a realistic plan looks like.

### Who owns the code and the store accounts?

You do. The app is published under your own Apple and Google developer accounts, and you own the source code, the design files and the hosting accounts.

### Do you build for iPhone and Android together?

Yes. With React Native one codebase produces both apps, so they launch together. We recommend native Swift and Kotlin only when the app depends on heavy graphics or special hardware.

### Can the app be in Arabic?

Yes. Every app we build for Oman can run in Arabic and English, with right-to-left layouts and Arabic notifications and store listings.

### What do Apple and Google charge to publish an app?

Apple lists the Apple Developer Program at [99 USD a year](https://developer.apple.com/support/enrollment/), and Google lists a [US$25 one-time registration fee](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/6112435?hl=en) for a Google Play developer account (both checked October 2026). You pay these directly to Apple and Google.

### Do you maintain the app after launch?

Yes. A monthly care plan covers updates, new iOS and Android versions, monitoring and new features.
