# How much does a mobile app cost in Oman in 2026?

> The cost of a mobile app in Oman is decided by the number of screens and user roles, how iOS and Android are built, the back end and integrations, payments, Arabic and right-to-left layouts, design depth, the admin panel and maintenance. OGB Labs is a website and ecommerce development company in Muscat, Oman. It does not publish a price list for apps: each app is quoted as a fixed price in Omani rial after discovery, and a first release usually takes 8 to 16 weeks. The fixed store fees are small: Apple charges USD 99 a year and Google Play a one-time USD 25.

## What decides the cost of an app

Every app quote is built from the same eight parts. Ask each company to price them line by line.

- Screens and user roles. A customer app is one role. A driver, vendor or branch manager each adds screens, permissions and testing.
- iOS and Android approach. One React Native codebase covers both stores. Two native codebases cost more. See [React Native vs native apps](https://www.ogblabs.com/guides/react-native-vs-native).
- Back end and integrations. Accounts, data, notifications and links to your ERP, POS or CRM are a large part of the work, and none of it shows in a screenshot.
- Payments. Card payments through an Omani gateway need integration, testing and refund handling. See [payment gateways in Oman](https://www.ogblabs.com/guides/payment-gateways-oman).
- Arabic and right-to-left. A bilingual app shares its logic but needs mirrored layouts, Arabic typography and two sets of text.
- Design depth. Standard platform components are quick to build. Custom illustration, animation and a tested prototype take longer.
- Admin panel. The web dashboard where staff manage products, orders and users is a second product behind the app.
- Maintenance. The app has to keep working on each new iOS and Android version.

## App types by complexity

OGB Labs apps start from OMR 1,500 for one platform, and a first release usually takes 8 to 16 weeks, including design, development, testing and store submission. The table shows where three common app types sit in that range.

**Mobile app types by complexity (no prices)**

| | Simple app | Mid-range app | Complex app |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Typical examples | Catalogue, loyalty card, booking for one branch | Ordering or delivery app with customer accounts | Marketplace, multi-role platform, field operations |
| User roles | One | Two: customer and staff | Three or more: customer, vendor or driver, admin |
| Back end | Light: content and a simple API | Custom API, database and admin panel | Custom platform, integrations and reporting |
| Payments | None, or a payment link | Card payments through a gateway | Payments, payouts or wallets |
| Relative effort | Lowest | Medium | Highest |
| Place in the 8–16 week range | Near 8 weeks | Middle of the range | Near 16 weeks, with later phases after the first release |

## Why two quotes for the same app differ

Two honest quotes for "a delivery app" can be far apart because they describe different products. One covers a customer app only. The other covers the customer app, a driver app, an admin dashboard, Arabic, card payments and support.

Ask every company for the same breakdown: design, iOS and Android build, back end, admin panel, integrations, Arabic, store launch and support. Check who owns the code and the store accounts.

## How a fixed price after discovery works

1. Discovery. We define the problem and the users, then list the roles, screens and integrations for the first release.
2. One clear price. The scope becomes one price in Omani rial, so you know the cost before the build starts.
3. Design. Flows, screens and a clickable prototype you can try before a line of code is written.
4. Build. Working software every week, shown to you in a demo.
5. Launch. Listings, screenshots, review and release on the App Store and Google Play under your developer accounts.
6. Care. A monthly plan covers updates, operating system changes, monitoring and new features.

## Store accounts and fees: Apple and Google

Every app owner in Oman pays these third-party costs, whoever builds the app. The fees and rules below were checked on Apple's and Google's own pages in October 2026 and change over time.

- Apple Developer Program: USD 99 per membership year. A company enrols as an organisation and needs a D-U-N-S Number, legal entity status (trade names and branches are not accepted), a work email on the company's domain and a public, working website. See [Apple's enrolment requirements](https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/), and our step-by-step guide to [publishing on the App Store and Google Play from Oman](https://www.ogblabs.com/guides/publish-app-store-google-play-oman).
- D-U-N-S Number: free from Dun & Bradstreet. Apple says to allow up to 5 business days to receive it and up to 2 more before enrolling ([Apple's D-U-N-S page](https://developer.apple.com/support/D-U-N-S/)).
- Google Play: a one-time USD 25 registration fee, with personal and organisation account types. An organisation account also needs a D-U-N-S Number, a website and a phone number. See [Google's registration page](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/6112435) and the [required account information](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/13628312).
- Google Play testing rule: personal accounts created after 13 November 2023 must run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days before publishing, according to [Google's testing requirements](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/14151465).
- Commission on digital sales: features and digital content unlocked inside the app must use the stores' own billing. Apple's Small Business Program sets 15% for developers who earned up to USD 1 million in the prior year ([Apple](https://developer.apple.com/app-store/small-business-program/)). Google lists 15% on the first USD 1 million a year and 30% above it for markets outside its newer fee structure ([Google](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/112622)).
- Physical goods and services: food, retail orders, bookings and deliveries are paid through your own gateway, not in-app purchase, under [Apple guideline 3.1.3(e)](https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/) and [Google's payments policy](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9858738). Store commission does not apply to them.

## What it costs to keep an app live

- Store accounts: the Apple membership renews every year. The Google Play fee is paid once.
- Hosting and services: server, database, storage and messages, billed by usage.
- Payment gateway fees: charged by the gateway on each transaction.
- Operating system updates: each new iOS and Android version needs testing.
- Care plan: monitoring, fixes and new features on a monthly plan.
